Why Does my New Car Need Polishing/Paint Correction? It’s Brand New?

Paint preparation is a vital aspect to all families of sealants (wax, ceramic, polymer, etc) in regards to sealant longevity, paint appearance/gloss factor, and overall application quality. It’s important to note that a majority of of the wow factor/gloss/shine is actually a result of proper paint preparation and not the actual ceramic coating being applied. Think of the ceramic coating as adding a little extra shine, but “locking in” the majority of shine done by proper paint work preparation.

1.) By definition, polishing is the act of making an object more shiny. Even brand new paint can have a significant amount of gloss added to the finish with proper polishing, even if no swirl marks or deep scratches are present. We do this for all of our ceramic coating packages. This results in a much higher quality ceramic coating job overall and a significant increase in all the great properties that make ceramic coatings so effective in protecting your paint.

2.) Another reality is that even a “new” car may have gone thru 10 or more improper washes before being purchased. Dealerships frequently put new car on the lot into harsh, automatic touch car wash systems that are often the root of dull, swirled and scratched paint work.

3.) Transportation. Most vehicles sit for months on waiting lots before being delivered to the dealership during this time, contaminates build up on the paint very rapidly as the cars are near sources of fallout (the factory) and are not moved. This always the base finish to degrade after months of time.

Lastly, we hold ourselves and are held to high standards by the companies that have certified us and trust us to do a complete and proper ceramic coating service. After hundreds of ceramic coating installations, we agree with this approach of high quality detailing  paint preparation work as we have seen before our eyes how important paint preparation is to a proper ceramic coating job.
